Christmas in Tenby

Why not visit Tenby this Christmas?  Enjoy a stroll around the walled town, perhaps a bit of Christmas shopping in the great selection of shops and bite to eat, or perhaps a hot drink (or something a little stronger)

Here is a list of upcoming events in Tenby to get you into the Christmas Spirit:

  • Sat 2nd December - Tenby Christmas Festivities (The following information is taken from the Tenby Town Council Facebook page)

There will be plenty of festive fun in Tenby on Saturday 2nd December as the town’s Christmas Festivities committee, Tenby RNLI and Tenby Round Table join forces to ‘launch’ the start of the Yuletide season in the seaside resort.

  • 11.45am - Santa Run - short run for junior competitors
  • 12pm - Santa Run 3k
  • Top local DJ Steve Briers will be on hand throughout the afternoon to keep the Christmas atmosphere swinging with plenty of festive favourites
  • 2.30pm - The Salvation Army band, Tenby Friendship Group and local schools choirs will be leading community carol singing in Tudor Square
  • 3.30pm - 4.30pm Seren School of Irish Dancing and the Kelly Williams School of Dance will be performing
  • Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol will be out and about throughout the afternoon.
  • 4pm - Mayor of Tenby, Cllr. Mrs. Sue Lane and Mayoress Charley Reohorn set off down to Tenby Lifeboat Station to join the crew of the Hayden Miller as they launch at 4.15 pm to head out towards Caldey to meet Father Christmas.
  • 5pm The Hayden Miller will bring Father Christmas and the Mayor back on shore and then they will board the inshore lifeboat to be towed into the Square through a festive flurry of snow from the roof of Tenby House Hotel to turn on the lights on the town Christmas Tree in the grounds of St Mary’s Church.  Following this, the trio will be conveyed by Tenby Fire Brigade up to the De Valence where Father Christmas will be welcoming children into his grotto.

Children are encouraged to wear festive fancy dress which will be judged by the Mayor and prizes awarded at a Christmas Family Fun Night in the De Valence.

Children will also be able to keep a sharp look-out for Christmas puddings hidden in shop windows as part of a Christmas Pudding Hunt organised by the Chamber of Trade and Tourism.

There will also be craft, local produce and charity stalls in the High Street and Tudor Square throughout the afternoon

The annual Tenby Boxing Day swim returns for the 47th year. Fun on the beach starts at 11am with a canoe race, crazy raft race and fancy dress parade.  The stampede for the sea is signalled at 11.30am, and swimmers can look forward to the warmth of the beach bonfire, hot soup and a commemorative medal on their return to the beach.

  • Thursday 4th Jan - The De Valence Trust Pantomime

The De Valence Trust will be hosting a professional touring pantomime company’s production of the classic family favourite Aladdin in the De Valence on 4th January to round off the season in style. If you're heading into Tenby for any of the events, don't forget to pop into our Cwtch lounge for a bite to eat, a cup of tea/coffee or perhaps something a little stronger
