A Tenby hotelier has paid tribute to his staff after winning a prestigious award for customer service                                          

The Giltar Hotel received the accolade in the 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire Business Awards – its second award this year; it had earlier been awarded the Best Pembrokeshire Welcome Team award in the Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards.

Malcolm Brace and Patrick Jenkins became joint owners of the hotel in 2008; the pair have since worked tirelessly to refurbish this beautiful Victorian building.

Mr Brace said he was “over the moon’’ with the award, which was sponsored by PRP Training.

Paying tribute to his workforce, he said: "It is down to the staff we have working for us, without them we don't get anywhere.

“They provide award winning customer service day in day out and this makes our hotel a success. A friendly welcome and a personal touch to customer service are at the heart of the Giltar’s success.’’

The Giltar received a huge number of nominations for the award, including one from Ironman competitor Rosemarie Jones.

She has often stayed at the hotel before taking part in the event.

"I have nothing but praise for the excellent customer service from all the staff at the Giltar Hotel,’’ she said.

“Nothing is too much trouble and there’s always a welcome smile. From an athlete’s point of view, they go the extra mile to ensure all race preparation needs are catered for. They work so hard to ensure we have a happy stay.”

Mr Brace said he was grateful to those who had backed the hotel to win the award. “Thank you to those who took the time to nominate us and to those who voted - some of which were dedicated enough to vote daily.’’

TripAdvisor, a barometer for excellence in the accommodation sector, has also recognised the high standards at The Giltar Hotel.

The company has for the third year awarded the hotel a Certificate of Excellence, an award given to hospitality businesses that consistently deliver great service; it is only given to approximately 10% of the businesses on TripAdvisor that consistently achieve great reviews.

 

 



I love staying at the Giltar Hotel. This time I was lucky enough to attend a wedding party. The buffet was absolutely delicious! Fantastic room with the most amazing views!
